Xbox One Event Summary

Well well well Microsoft. What an interesting event you have put on. Well then, lets get to what we know.

• Console shown, called Xbox One
• 8 GB Ram
• 64bit CPU
• 500 GB HDD
• Redesigned Controller
• New and Improved Kinect with every console
• Revamped Dashboard
• Voice Activated Commands
• Integration with all your living room devices
• Motion Controlled Menus
• 3 OS in one
• Multitasking
• 300,000 Xbox Live servers
• Skype Integration

As for the games shown (it took 30 minutes before we even saw any games)

• Fifa 2014
• Madden 2014
• NBA 2014
• UFC
• Forza Motorsports 5
• Quantum Break (New IP)
• Call of Duty Ghosts
• 15 New Exclusives, 8 New IPs to be shown later

The Xbox One will feature seamless integration with your TV, allowing you to change the channels by simply talking or using hand gestures. The One will not be backwards compatible nor will it be able to play used games right out of the box. Each games is now tied to a single Xbox Live account, and to link it with a second will require a fee to be paid.

EA announced a brand new engine to power its sports games and Microsoft is partnering with the NFL to bring live fantasy sports updates to your Xbox One. Microsoft also made a big deal out of Cloud based gaming, but much like Sony, didn’t get into many details.

Now, what did I think of all this? I’m not going to try and hide it, I’m a proud owner of a PS1, PS2, and PS3. I love Sony’s consoles, and while I had reservations about the PS4, seeing the Xbox One made me that much more enthusiastic for the PS4. Microsoft push heavily the bells and whistles of the Xbox One, without showing us much in the way of any gameplay or… well games in general. Microsoft does appear to be answering the cries for more exclusives, but will the be first party or third party. Microsoft really held out a lot of information though, especially on games. So I really don’t know what to think of the console except that it appears to be less for the gamer, and more for the entertainment center. In short, I guess I’ll have to wait until E3 to form a better opinion on it, but as of right now, I’m not impressed.
